Delivering a Collaborative Workplace for Autodesk’s Cambridge Developer Team
3pm was appointed as Project Manager and Employer’s Agent for Autodesk’s relocation from Castle Court to One Cambridge Square in Cambridge North. The project comprised the design and fit-out of approximately 465 m² of office space, creating a flexible workplace for Autodesk’s developer team with an emphasis on collaboration, individual focus space and operational efficiency. The design responds to the Cambridge context while remaining consistent with Autodesk’s global workplace portfolio and technical standards.

3pm led the project from briefing through design, single-stage Design & Build procurement, construction and handover. Our role included governance, programme and cost control, contractor procurement, design coordination and contract administration, together with stakeholder management across Autodesk’s IT, audiovisual and security teams, global vendors, landlord representatives and the building manager.

Key challenges included coordinating specialist IT, audiovisual and security interfaces, securing the Licence to Alter and managing a permanent electrical tap-off with a lead time of more than 25 weeks. A temporary power solution was implemented to maintain progress while the permanent connection was developed. Despite design, landlord and power-related delays resulting in approved extensions of time, the project was completed within budget and ahead of Autodesk’s existing lease expiry, enabling the team to relocate without operational disruption or temporary accommodation.
