Thames Water Sewage Pumping Station

As an enabler for the second phase The Oxford Science Park Iversen Building development, the project involves the acquisition and relocation of an active Thames Water facility to free up land for the new phase. The relocation was undertaken via a S185 Agreement, with Thames Water acting in a monitoring role to ensure the design and construction of the sewage pumping station (SPS) met their standards.

Early engagement with Thames Water led to a feasibility study, establishing key design parameters and requirements for the relocation. Key challenges include stakeholder management with Thames Water, the fast-track programme to support Phase 2, and overcoming site constraints such as ecological sensitivities and floodplain considerations.

Despite these challenges, positive collaborative relationships with Thames Water, our capable team designed to Thames Water's specifications, and managed logistics seamlessly with the Iversen Building development. This project demonstrates our efficient stakeholder engagement, innovative process management, and the ability to deliver under a tight timeline.
