Transforming Sycamore House: A Dual-Phase Refurbishment for Achilles’ Laboratory and Office Space
Achilles Therapeutics
Sycamore House
The refurbishment project at Sycamore House was designed to transform approximately 600m² of mixed-use laboratory and office space. The scope includes a comprehensive shell & core refurbishment by the Landlord, to prepare the space for the subsequent fitout project.
The construction works involved stripping out the existing Cat A elements as necessary to facilitate renovations. New architectural finishes were implemented, including partitions, ceilings, walls, and flooring, all constructed to CL2 standards to accommodate laboratory requirements. Essential modifications to the existing Mechanical, Electrical, and Public Health (MEPH) services ensured compliance with laboratory standards, particularly focusing on containment considerations.
The design included ancillary spaces to support laboratory functions, such as office areas and tea points. All works adhered to current statutory regulations, including any specific requirements for the scientific activities planned for the facility. To maintain brand consistency, the aesthetic of the newly refurbished space aligned with Achilles' headquarters in Hammersmith, fostering a cohesive identity across their facilities.
