ISO11 Effluent Treatment Plant

The ISO11 Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) project was initiated to replace the aging ETP servicing the ISO11 research laboratory, which operates at high containment levels (SAPO4, ADCP3, GM4). The challenge was to carry out these works while keeping the laboratory operational throughout the project. Additionally, an electrical infrastructure upgrade was required to ensure the resilience of the containment compound. This included new transformers, switchgear, a generator, and UPS to support the new ETP once operational.

Both the ETP replacement and electrical upgrades had to be completed within a narrow shutdown window before crucial scientific studies resumed. The project also involved decommissioning and removing the old ETP, which required delicate operations to avoid affecting the highly sensitive work within both ISO11 and a connected high-containment laboratory.

3PM played a key role in planning and coordinating the shutdowns, ensuring smooth execution without interrupting research activities. Careful scheduling and phasing of work were essential to meet the stringent standards of The Pirbright Institute. The project was successfully managed within the constraints of a live scientific research environment, delivering a high-quality facility that supports the Institute's long-term operational goals.
