Wellcome Genome Campus
Bridget Ogilvie Building

The Bridget Ogilvie Building project was initiated to create a state-of-the-art DNA sequencing facility for the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute and Genomics England at the Genome Campus. Launched in early 2014 and completed in July 2015, this 4,500m² facility spans three levels of laboratories, office space, and an energy centre. Positioned on the Southfield development of the campus, the building ensures that the Sanger Institute remains at the forefront of genetic sequencing for years to come.

The facility plays a critical role in supporting Genomics England’s mission to deliver the Human Genome Project, a UK Government initiative to sequence 100,000 human genomes by 2017. Achieving this milestone was essential to positioning the UK as a leader in genetic research.

This fast-track project was delivered in less than 18 months, from inception to completion, with planning consent secured within three months of initiation. We led the dynamic design programming and procurement strategies in collaboration with the project team and contractor, enabling the timely delivery of the first phase.

A truly collaborative approach, extensive stakeholder engagement, and fast-track design, procurement, and construction methodologies were critical in ensuring the successful completion of this world-class facility on schedule.
