Healthcare in Science
The boundary between healthcare and science is dissolving. Today’s hospitals are vibrant hubs of clinical research, whilst science campuses pulse with translational medicine facilities. At 3pm we’re at the forefront of designing for this convergence, where patient care and scientific discovery thrive side by side.
Our projects demonstrate how healthcare buildings within science clusters are no longer isolated institutions – they are catalysts for innovation. Clinical trials, diagnostics, and data-driven therapeutics flourish from co-location with research groups, biotech companies, and digital-health start-ups. Our philosophy ensures that architecture supports both the rigor of healthcare regulation and the openness of collaboration.
We work collaboratively with teams of experts so that spaces balance controlled access and infection control with flexible work zones and public engagement areas. With this approach, labs can become seamlessly connected to clinical units, shared imaging facilities, and spaces for patient engagement and education. Design must balance privacy with transparency, where efficiency meets humanity.
At 3pm, we understand that healthcare anchors attract investment and the most talented people. They also bring complex logistical demands – sterile supply routes, emergency access, and the requirement for energy systems. Our expertise lies in integrating these into the broader science ecosystem creating environments that accelerate the transition of research into real-world patient outcomes.
With the rise of precision medicine and digital therapeutics, healthcare’s role within science campuses will only deepen. At 3pm, we’re proud to shape places where care and discovery coexist, driving the future of health innovation.
